Bank of Maldives (BML) has announced an exciting offer for young customers using its popular Student Debit Card, with discounts of up to 10 percent now available at various retail outlets, bookshops, and restaurants across the country.
The discount is applicable when payments are made at POS terminals using the BML Student Debit Card. Participating merchants and outlets can be viewed on the official offers portal at: https://offers.merchants.bankofmaldives.com.mv
The BML Student Card is part of the Bank’s ongoing effort to instill responsible financial habits among children and teenagers. Tailored for students aged 7 to 18, the card is issued in two unique designs—one for ages 7 to 12 and another for ages 13 to 18.
With parental oversight and guidance, the Student Debit Card allows children to learn important financial skills such as budgeting, cost-cutting, and disciplined spending. Parents can transfer funds directly to the card, track usage, and manage controls such as freezing or unfreezing the card, blocking it, or changing PINs, all via the BML Mobile Banking App.
In addition to the discounts, BML also rewards students by offering an annual rebate. Each year, 0.5% of the total card spending will be credited back to the student's savings account, further encouraging saving habits from a young age.
Issued as a Visa Debit Card, the BML Student Card comes with no additional fees. It can be used for local and international transactions, with a standard limit of USD100 per month for foreign currency use. For students studying abroad, this limit can be extended up to USD1,200 per month, subject to registration and documentation.
Parents can also apply for the Student Debit Card conveniently through the BML Mobile Banking App.
