From 8th February 2026, the Bank of Maldives (BML) announced that it will begin its dedicated dollar purchase service for Umrah pilgrims travelling with an Umrah group during Ramadan.
The service will be available from the BML Customer Service Centre (Ground floor) at Ameenee Magu on banking days:
Tokens for this service can be taken at the venue on the day of collection. To ensure prompt and quick service, customers are advised to take note of the following:
- Customers using this service must be included in the Umrah Travellers list submitted by Umrah groups.
- Valid ID cards or passports (original) must be presented for each traveller at the time of purchase. If a third party or representative is purchasing dollars on behalf of a traveller, their ID card (original) must also be presented.
- Up to USD 500 can be purchased per person.
- Customers can purchase dollars for up to 5 travellers at a time.
- Payments can be made via BML-issued Debit cards.
Pilgrims travelling independently can continue to use the USD Booking Portal to purchase dollars, for collection at the Departure Hall at Velana International Airport.
During this period, Umrah dollar sales will not be available at branches in the Greater Male’ region. Customers residing outside the Greater Male’ region can continue to visit their nearest branches for dollar purchases.
