BML announces the completion of two projects funded through the Small Grant Fund

BML announces the completion of two key projects: the installation of a fishmeal plant in H.Dh Kumundhoo by the Kumundhoo Revival Initiative (KUREVI) to support the fishing industry, and the conservation of the Blyebowls Surf spot reef at G.Dh Vaadhoo by the Huvadhoo Association for Tourism (HAT).

The Bank of Maldives (BML) has announced the successful completion of two projects which were funded through the bank’s Small Grant Fund which was introduced with the bank’s 40th anniversary. In addition to the Small Grant Fund, the bank has given opportunities to many small businesses and individuals to complete meaningful community projects as well as kick-start individual businesses through its Start-up Fund. 

On the 19th of December 2024, the bank announced the successful completion of two projects. The first was the installation of a fishmeal plant in H.Dh Kumundhoo to effectively manage fish waste and produce. This project, which was carried implemented by Kumundhoo Revival Initiative (KUREVI) will directly help the fishing industry which is known as the blood-line of the Maldives as fishing has been a major part of the Maldivian roots. In addition to this, the bank also announced the completion of the project for the conservation of the Blyebowls Surf spot reef at G.Dh Vaadhoo which was carried out by the Huvadhoo Association for Tourism (HAT). 

In addition to these happy announcements, the bank also announced its selection for the Start-up Grant for the year which will see the bank assisting new businesses develop successfully. This year the grant was received by The Island Factory which produces high-quality local snacks and After School which provides locally designed and assembled STEM kits and training programs for the youth. With the MVR 500,000 grant, these two businesses will have an opportunity to expand their business and take it to the next level.
