Maldives and Angola sign two MoUs to advance bilateral relations

The MoU on Political Consultations establishes a formal mechanism for the two Ministries to hold regular discussions on bilateral relations, exchange views on regional and international developments, and identify new areas of cooperation.

The Government of the Republic of Maldives and the Government of the Republic of Angola signed two Memorandum of Understanding on the sidelines of the High-Level Week of the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

The MoUs were signed on behalf of the Government of the Maldives by Her Excellency Iruthisham Adam, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and on behalf of the Government of Angola by His Excellency Téte António, Minister of External Relations.

The MoU on Political Consultations establishes a formal mechanism for the two Ministries to hold regular discussions on bilateral relations, exchange views on regional and international developments, and identify new areas of cooperation.

The MoU between the Foreign Service Institute of Maldives (FOSIM) and Angola’s Venâncio de Moura Diplomatic Academy will facilitate collaboration between the two institutions in professional training, diplomatic skills development and the sharing of experience and best practices.

The agreements build on the discussions held during the Ministers meeting in Malé in June 2026 and mark a further step in strengthening bilateral relations between the Maldives and Angola.

The Maldives and Angola established diplomatic relations on 10 November 2020.
