On 26 February 2026, the Maldives Airports Company Ltd (MACL) shared that the company held a productive meeting with Autism Care Maldives and Know Hub Maldives.

The meeting was hosted by the MACL Chairperson, Ms Ayesha Nurain Janah, and Deputy Managing Director Mr Mujthaba Latheef, together with Senior Management and the Operational Team. During the meeting, discussions were hosted regarding the introduction of inclusive services for travellers with invisible disabilities.

While this is a major step for the Maldives, globally, airports and transport hubs have adopted disability-inclusive practices in line with the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD). Some of the widely adopted initiatives around the world includes hidden disability lanyard schemes, quiet or sensory rooms, and priority assistance services.

This meeting serves as an important step towards strengthening accessibility, awareness, and dignity across airport spaces in the Maldives.
