A total of 112 participants from 62 companies from the Maldives, together with senior officials from the state owned Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) are participating in this year’s Arabian Travel Market (ATM) held from 09th to 12th May 2022 at the Dubai World Trade Center, Dubai, UAE.
The ATM Fair is the leading event held for both inbound and outbound travel industry of Middle East. The mainly B2B event brings travel industry professionals from around the world, including Middle East, Africa, Asia, Australasia, the Americas and Europe, to come together and showcase their brand and products.
The main focus at the show this year will be ‘The future of international travel and tourism’. Given how the Maldives has been most recently pioneering breakthroughs into various international markets, this opportunity is one that needs full consideration. With the mixed reviews of the Maldivian governmental participation in the Dubai International Expo (where there was much to be desired in terms of government-led forums and events), this event should be better managed and studied a lot more closely by policy makers and investment managers.
The Middle Eastern market has been growing in significance from 2021, and has attracted more than 16,000 arrivals from January to March 2022. This includes more than 10,160 tourists from Saudi Arabia, and more than 2,000 tourists from each country of Kuwait, Egypt, and UAE during the first three months of 2022.
