MTCC launches weekend ferry service to Kudagiri picnic island

The Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has announced a new ferry service connecting Malé City to Kudagiri, the popular picnic island near the capital.

Starting from 12 May 2025, MTCC will operate weekend ferry trips to Kudagiri every Friday and Saturday. The service will run six times per day on each of these days, using a 140-passenger ferry.

  • First trip from Malé: 6:30 AM
  • Last return trip from Kudagiri to Malé: 7:00 PM

Tickets for the Kudagiri ferry can be booked online through the MTCC website, making it easy for travellers to plan their weekend getaways.

In addition, the Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has announced plans to launch a ferry connection from Hulhumalé to Kudagiri, aiming to make the island more accessible for residents of Hulhumalé.

This new service offers a convenient and affordable way for families and groups to enjoy one of the closest picnic destinations near Malé.
