The
Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) is participating in
the MATKA Nordic Travel Fair 2023, held in Helsinki, Finland from January
19-22.
As
the largest travel fair held in Nothern Europe, bringing together over 1000
travel organisers, destinations and tourism organisations from over 80
countries, the MATKA Nordic Travel fair creates a great opportunity for MMPRC
to find new markets for the year 2023.
Since
the pandemic,, the Maldives has seen a change in its visitor arrivals, which
was led by Chinese visitors prior to COVID-19. However following the pandemic
the Maldives saw rise in tourists from the Russian, Indian and Italian markets,
and partaking in such fairs may bring yet another interesting change in the
arrivals in 2023.
In
this fair, MMPRC is showcasing the unique beauty that the Maldivian islands
have to offer. In addition to showcasing the famous natural beauty of the
Maldives, throughout this fair MMPRC is also hosting B2B meetings with
industry partners and other participants in order to create a bigger
interest towards the Maldives in the Nordic market. Such fairs also prove to be
a great way to gain insight into different markets and industry patterns as it
provides an opportunity to host meetings and exchange information with other
industry professionals.
With
over 68,000 visitors expected to arrive at this fair, many participants will
finally get a chance to experience the beauty and luxury that the Maldives has
to offer, and with the Nordic market contributing with 30,493 visitors
as of 2022, the results of this fair might show an increase in Nordic
travellers to the Maldives this year.
This
is not the first time MMPRC is targeting the Nordic market. Throughout 2022,
the company conducted several campaigns aimed towards this market and plans to
continue working with airlines, tour operators and other travel vendors.
MMPRC
has been putting in extra effort to strengthen the Maldivian tourism industry
following the COVID-19 pandemic, and the numbers of visitors are showing the
results as Maldives’ tourism industry celebrated an extremely successful year
