Maldivian, the national carrier of the Maldives, has proudly welcomed its fourth ATR aircraft, marking a significant milestone in the nation's air travel infrastructure. The acquisition of this new ATR is poised to significantly enhance connectivity within the Maldives, addressing the escalating demand for flights to various corners of the archipelago, particularly during peak holiday seasons when travellers often plan their trips well in advance.

The latest addition to Maldivian's fleet represents a substantial investment, with the aircraft carrying a price tag of MVR 1 billion. This strategic move not only highlights the airline's commitment to bolstering its services across the Maldives but also showcases its dedication to providing seamless and efficient travel experiences for passengers.

Mohamed Ameen, the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation, expressed optimism about the airline's future prospects, noting that efforts are underway to secure a wide-body aircraft for international flights. Anticipated agreements for the lease of a 275-passenger aircraft are nearing finalization, with expectations set for its arrival by year-end, further enhancing the Maldives' connectivity on the global stage.

Our administration's biggest aim when we took over the government was to provide solutions for all the issues faced by Maldivians, and for the airline's planes to even fly over to other countries outside of Maldives.
Mohamed Ameen, the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation

As Maldivian commemorates the arrival of its fourth ATR aircraft, plans for expansion are already in motion. An order for three additional ATRs has been placed, demonstrating the airline's forward-looking approach. Two of these aircraft are slated for delivery towards the end of the year, while the third is expected to join the fleet in early 2025, reinforcing Maldivian's position as a key player in the region's aviation sector.
