Maldivian has announced that the airline will resume direct flights between Malé and Dhaka from 12 March 2026, following strong demand from local travellers and the country’s expatriate community, and restoring a key air link between the Maldives and Bangladesh.

The twice-weekly service will operate on Thursdays and Sundays, with flight timings scheduled for early morning arrivals into Dhaka, allowing passengers to continue their onward travel conveniently. The resumption of the service comes at a key travel period towards the end of Ramadan, supporting travel plans of Eid al-Fitr for both local travellers and expatriates returning to Bangladesh as well as Bangladesh tourists visiting Maldives.

Beyond the seasonal peak, the service is also intended to support year-round travel needs, offering consistent and reliable connectivity between the two destinations. Return fares start from USD 399, with a 30kg checked baggage allowance and meal service. Sales are open from today.

Dhaka continues to be an important destination for local travellers for business, short visits and regional connections, while also serving the travel needs of a significant expatriate population living and working in the Maldives. The return of direct flights strengthens regional connectivity and provides a convenient, non-stop travel option between the two capitals.

As part of the relaunch, Maldivian will host the “Dhaka, We Heard You” Music Festival on 9 January 2026. The community-focused event is aimed at the expatriate community in the Maldives and reflects the strong cultural ties shared between the Maldives and Bangladesh.
