The Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) is preparing to launch two key community development projects in Baa Atoll, Maalhos. The initiatives include the construction of a new police post and a mosque designed to accommodate up to 500 worshippers, reflecting ongoing efforts to enhance public infrastructure and community services on the island.

Community development projects are a central component of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s vision to foster greater connectivity and improve the quality of life across the islands of the Maldives. As part of this initiative, the President has entrusted MTCC with the responsibility of executing several key projects to enhance public infrastructure and community spaces. Many of these projects have been initiated based on direct requests from local communities, reflecting their most pressing needs. Additionally, MTCC has been tasked with resuming and completing several stalled projects to ensure timely delivery and long-term benefit to the public.

The new police post in Maalhos is expected to significantly enhance security services on the island by providing a permanent base for law enforcement officers, strengthening public safety and improving emergency response capabilities in outer islands. Meanwhile, the planned mosque, with a capacity for 500 worshippers, will serve as a vital religious and social hub for the community, supporting both spiritual life and public gatherings.
