In a move to empower creative professionals in the Maldives and foster sustainable growth in the country's creative economy, SME Development Finance Corporation (SDFC) has announced the launch of a new financing and service dedicated to content creators and film producers.
The financing service, which was introduced on 28 September 2025, offers financing up to MVR500,000. The facility, according to SDFC, is designed to empower creative professionals and foster sustainable growth in the Maldives’ creative economy. With this new initiative, SDFC is giving content creators the opportunity to access the resources they need in order to expand their business and bring their creative vision to new heights.
According to SDFC, financing of up to MVR150,000 is available without collateral, while financing up to MVR500,000 can be accessed with collateral.
With an annual profit rate of 9.5 percent, the facility offers flexible repayment terms of up to five years, including a grace period of up to six months. The financing can be utilized to purchase equipment, cover production costs, and meet other business expenses essential for scaling creative enterprises.
The creative economy is one of the fastest-growing sectors globally, with Maldivian youth transforming creativity into sustainable economic growth.
