One of the most difficult things about the Maldives due to the islands being scattered across the country is getting services easily. Whether that is healthcare or banking, some administrative services that are extremely important are only easily available in the city area or a few of the islands in the Maldives, forcing people to travel for services such as renewal of identity cards or passport-related services.
To bring a resolution to this problem, President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has inaugurated the project which will facilitate the provision of identity cards (ID cards) and passport services from atolls. This will be a major step towards making such processes more accessible as well as affordable for Maldivian citizens as the services are currently only available in a few islands in addition to the Greater Male’ Area.
