In accordance with the Decree, a revised chart reflecting Hulhudhuffaaru’s updated administrative jurisdiction has been published in the Government Gazette.

On 19 March 2026, President Dr Mohamed Muizzu restored Gaaun’doodhoo to the jurisdiction of Hulhudhuffaaru within North Maalhosmadulu Atoll, fulfilling a Presidential pledge.
The decision was formalised through Presidential Decree No. 9/2026, issued pursuant to the authority granted to the President under Section 56-1(a) of the Decentralisation Act (Act No. 7/2010), which provides for the determination and designation of the jurisdictions of city and island councils.
In accordance with the Decree, a revised chart reflecting Hulhudhuffaaru’s updated administrative jurisdiction has been published in the Government Gazette.
Gaaun’doodhoo was previously included within Hulhudhuffaaru’s jurisdiction under Presidential Decree No. 3/2020. It was removed on 25 August 2021 through Presidential Decree No. 4/2021 to facilitate its use for industrial activities overseen by the Ministry of Agriculture.
