The Male’ Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC) has boosted daily production at its Hulhumalé Operations Centre by 700 tonnes per day, the company announced on 30 September 2025. The capacity increase comes as MWSC finalises a new water-production facility in Hulhumalé that — once complete — is designed to house two reverse-osmosis (RO) plants with a combined output of 10,000 tonnes per day.
The 700 tonnes/day addition is a timely increment to help meet rising demand across the Greater Malé region. Earlier in August 2025, MWSC also officially commenced the construction of a new water production facility, which is set to be completed in September. According to the company, upon completion, the facility will have the capacity to produce 10,000 tonnes a day.
