The development of this facility marks a significant step in strengthening water services across the Greater Malé Area, one of the most densely populated regions in the Maldives. Once operational, the project is expected to enhance service reliability and improve access to clean water for thousands of residents.

The foundation-laying ceremony was held at MWSC’s Hulhumalé Service Centre. In a symbolic gesture honouring the company’s workforce, the inauguration was carried out by ten employees who have each served MWSC for over 29 years. They were joined by the company’s Managing Director, Abdul Matheen, Chairperson, Shamhoozaa Ahmed, and members of the Board of Directors.

According to MWSC, the facility is targeted for completion by September 2025. Upon completion, it will house two Reverse Osmosis (RO) plants with a combined production capacity of 5,000 tonnes of water, which will be installed within the building. The project aims to ensure sustainable water production and to meet the growing demand in the Greater Malé region for years to come.
