The Male' Water and Sewerage Company Pvt. Ltd. (MWSC) has announced the successful completion of the installation and commissioning of a new 5,000 TPD RO plant in HulhuMale' on 13 February 2026.
This new development strengthens Male' & Hulhumale' water supply capacity and supports preparations to meet the forecasted increase in demand during the upcoming Ramadan and school season. MWSC remains committed to enhancing infrastructure to ensure a reliable water supply for the community.
The newly commissioned 5,000 tonnes-per-day reverse osmosis (RO) plant increases MWSC’s desalination capacity in Hulhumalé, enabling the utility to better manage peak consumption periods and operational contingencies. The additional capacity also enhances system resilience by providing greater flexibility during maintenance works or unforeseen disruptions, while supporting the continued urban expansion and population growth in the Greater Malé region.
