MWSC announces milestone progress on Hdh. Kulhudhuffushi Zero-Carbon Desalination Project

On 26 January 2026, the Male' Water and Sewerage Company Pvt. Ltd. (MWSC) announced milestone progress on Hdh. Kulhudhuffushi Zero-Carbon Desalination Project.

Accrding to MWSC, the project has now reached 58 percent overall completion, marking steady progress, moving towards cleaner and more sustainable water production. This announcement was made by MWSC in honor of the International Day of Clean Energy, marking the steps being carried out by the company for a more sustainable future for the islands of the Maldives.

In addition to the updates, MWSC also noted the key project deliverables, which include cable laying, PV steel structure construction, RO plant and battery installation, and facility building finishing works, which the company states are progressing well. With this, MWSC noted that the island is coming closer to a clean, energy-efficient desalination system that supports long-term water security through sustainable innovation.
