The Malé Water and Sewerage Company Pvt. Ltd. (MWSC) has announced a significant increase in its water production capacity, with an additional 750 tonnes per day successfully added to the Malé Operations Centre.

The upgrade is part of MWSC’s ongoing efforts to strengthen water supply services in response to the growing demand across the Greater Malé Region. With this increase, the company aims to further enhance the reliability and resilience of its water distribution network.

According to MWSC, the entire project,  from design and fabrication to installation and commissioning, was completed by the company’s own technical team, without outsourcing.

The newly added capacity will help ensure a stable and sustainable water supply for residents and businesses in Malé and surrounding areas, especially during peak demand periods.

This development follows a series of recent capacity expansion projects by MWSC, including the addition of new production capacity in Hulhumalé and the ongoing construction of a large reverse-osmosis facility to further boost regional supply.
