Maldives Government opens investment opportunities in Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll, Gan

The Maldives Government has announced new investment opportunities for the development of Gan, an uninhabited island in Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll, inviting both local and international investors to participate in a range of potential projects. Known for its breathtaking natural beauty, Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll is home to pristine white-sand beaches, crystal-clear turquoise waters, and rich marine biodiversity, making it one of the most promising locations for sustainable investment in the Maldives.

With this initiative, the government aims to attract investment across multiple sectors, including tourism, agriculture, fisheries, and manufacturing. The island which is managed by Gadhdhoo Council is open to accepting Letters of Expression (LOEs) for projects in different fields before April 30, 2025. 

With new investment opportunities on the island and the growth of sectors such as agriculture, fisheries, and tourism, Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll is poised to experience significant economic and social benefits. The development of sustainable investment projects can generate future employment opportunities for local communities, and support livelihoods while also preserving the natural beauty that attracts visitors to the region.
