Maldives expands medical transfer services to Thailand and the UAE

With this agreement, patients who require urgent medical care not available in the Maldives can access better healthcare more easily in Thailand and the UAE.

On 16 November 2025, an agreement was signed at the Ministry of Health by three parties to expand the Maldives’ air ambulance services to include medical transfers to Thailand and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). With this, patients who require urgent medical care not available in the Maldives can access better healthcare more easily in Thailand and the UAE.

The agreement was signed by Deputy Minister Ahmed Hamdhaan Naeer on behalf of the Health Ministry, Managing Director Ibrahim Iyaas on behalf of the Island Aviation Services (IASL), and the Chief Executive Officer, Heena Waleed, on behalf of the National Social Protection Agency (NSPA).

According to IASL, the services will be provided through authorised operators using fully equipped aircraft that meet international standards.
