In a step towards strengthening community well-being and advancing the government’s vision for sports development, Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) has signed two Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with the Ministry of Sports, Fitness and Recreation on 20 August 2025.
The first MoU was signed between MACL’s CEO and Managing Director, Ibrahim Shareef Mohamed, and Minister of Sports, Fitness and Recreation, Abdulla Raafiu, for the development of a modern sports complex in Alif Alif Rasdhoo.
On the same day, a second MoU was signed between the two parties for the development of another sports complex in Alif Alif Ukulhas, further underlining the shared commitment to expanding access to quality sports facilities across the Maldives.
These agreements align with President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s pledge to enhance sports infrastructure and promote healthier, more active communities. Through such projects, the government aims to empower local youth, encourage sports participation, and create new opportunities for community engagement.
