The world is evolving at an exponential rate with technology outpacing even the wildest imaginings of previous generations. Along with this societies and individuals have also evolved, and attention needs to be paid to this aspect quite closely. To achieve this, the Institute for Research and Innovation at Villa College is currently hosting their annual ICSRI, with this year’s events poised to outshine the last.

The International Conference on Social Research and Innovation (ISCRI) is currently taking place at Villa College Qi Campus this weekend, and the schedule is packed. The event going forward from 6 to 7 November, will run from the morning, at 9 am, til 5 pm in the early evening, and the Villa College Hall will take centre stage for the panel discussions.

The panel discussions will be based on the five major themes of education, health, environment and technology, governance & law, and business, with more streamlined topic ideas to promote forward-thinking and fruitful discussions. It should be interesting to note that timely topics, such as the social impact of the minimum wage, emerging technologies in combating climate change, and more have been scheduled for the two day event.

Furthermore, the research paper presentations take place concurrently, with roughly 20 minutes allocated per paper, and the venues divided according to the overall theme of the research. This would allow participants to flit through their preferred discussions, and also gives the opportunity for the researchers to engage specifically with those there to understand their research.

The theme of this year's conference is aimed at addressing the many challenges and pathways to recovery from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, and for enhancing our collective resilience from an academic perspective.

In addition, the conference will also be a platform to share new ideas in science and technology with the objective of advancing human knowledge in diverse fields. As can be seen simply from the list of keynote speakers, several local and international researchers and scholars in various academic fields will be participating in this fifth annual conference of the series.

The objective of the conference is to create a broad platform for local and international researchers to showcase their research and innovative ideas, that can be valuable to strengthen the development trajectory of the Maldives in diverse fields.

Being the fifth such conference, the event provides a reputed venue for intellectuals and academics to come together and work together as well as network and build connections.
