The Institute of Chartered Accountants of the Maldives (CA Maldives) will host Maldives Accountants Forum (MAF) 2021 from 15 to 17 November 2021. CA Maldives hopes this will be another milestone in addressing the challenging work that lies ahead and one that could herald the beginning of a new era in shaping the profession in the country.

The forum is meant to bring together the accounting professionals working in the country and hear from the regulators and business community, in order to enable accountants and auditors to better attune their work to the needs of the industry stakeholders and to provide a capacity development opportunity for the professionals while creating greater understanding and a stronger bond among all concerned.

The three day event hopes to;

  • Promote auditors and accountants and to gain confidence of the industry for their work
  • Orient the auditors and accountants to the emerging issues and opportunities
  • Hear the concerns and expectation of the business community
  • Share learning, experience and expectations among the key stakeholders
  • Gain insight for making policy decision
  • Provide networking opportunities

The event targets professionals from;

  • Government
  • Financial Institutions & Banks
  • Government Corporations / SOEs
  • University / Colleges
  • Licensed Auditors / Professional Accountants
  • Private Sector Businesses (Large companies)

MAF will host auditors, accountants, and students over an extensive three day schedule including the opening keynote; delivered by President of the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC), Alan Johnson.

Additional speakers will include Cabinet Ministers, State Regulatory Officials, local & international experts and more — the full list of speakers, including additional information, are available on the MAF website.

CA Maldives strongly believes that the accounting profession is critical to the development and wellbeing of national economies and the global economy. As trade across borders continues its exponential growth, the need for reliable and high-quality financial reporting as well as assurance provided by the auditors on them cannot be overstated; this forms the key to improving financial transparency, management accountability, good governance as well as the main source of investor confidence and contribute immensely to the process of achieving financial prudence.

With the enactment of Maldives Chartered Accountants Act on 8 September 2020, CA Maldives took on the mantle of the regulator of the accountancy profession and has since continued efforts to advance the interests of the accounting community in the country under the leadership of the Auditor General.
