A devastating fire erupted in the TPR amusement & theme park in Rajkot, Gujarat, on May 25, 2024, resulting in the tragic loss of at least 27 lives, the majority of whom were children. This incident has sent shockwaves through the community and raised serious concerns about safety protocols in public entertainment venues.
The fire broke out in the early afternoon at the popular park, which was crowded with families enjoying the weekend. Although the cause of the fire remains to be determined, emergency services responded promptly. Regardless, the intensity of the fire and the thick smoke made rescue operations extremely challenging as BBC’s latest reports indicate that there are fears that multiple victims are still feared to be trapped under the rubble. According to the survivors, they had to kick down doors and leap out of windows in order to escape from the scene, which was packed full of young people who were enjoying their leisurely time playing games, reported Indian media this Sunday.
Medical teams were dispatched to the scene, and the injured were rushed to nearby hospitals. Many victims are receiving treatment for severe burns and smoke inhalation. Reports indicate the victims are charred beyond recognition, making it difficult to identify the victims.
