Key agreements signed between the Maldives and Seychelles
With this, people will be able to finally book trips to the beautiful Seychelles and vise-versa, allowing people to travel between both countries without having to spend time or money on connecting flights.
Seychelles is one of those countries that looks like it is relatively close when you look at it on the map, but trying to book a flight there from the Maldives gives you a reality check on the cost and travel time between the two countries. However, Seychelles might seem like it’s relatively near, but due to the connecting flights and routes that need to be booked in order to travel between the two countries, the time and cost of travel make people from either of the countries a bit more hesitant to book the flights.
But now, there might finally be a solution to this issue for both the Maldivians as well as travellers from Seychelles. Following an official visit by the President of Seychelles Wavel Ramkalawan and the first lady, four key agreements were signed between the Government of Maldives and Seychelles.
Under these agreements signed on June 12, 2023, the Governments aim to conduct direct flights between both nations on top of a visa waiver agreement allowing Maldivian passport holders to visit Seychelles for a 30-day period without the visa requirement.
With the plans to connect the two countries through direct flights as well as the visa waiver being implemented in the near future, there is no doubt that the travel as well as the friendliness between the Maldives and the Seychelles will improve. With this, people will be able to finally book trips to the beautiful Seychelles and vise-versa, allowing people to travel between both countries without having to spend time or money on connecting flights.
In addition to the agreements that are going to facilitate easier travel between the two nations, two additional agreements were signed between the countries which will facilitate cooperation to combat transitional organised crime and other maritime and security and safety threats.
