Health Ministry signs MVR23 million in contracts to upgrade island health centres

The contracts were signed with three companies, namely, Perfect Malafehi Maldives Pvt Ltd, Eacon Maldives Pvt Ltd, and Samal Construction Pvt Ltd.

During a ceremony hosted at the Maldives Health Ministry on 31 July 2025, the Ministry signed agreements totalling MVR23 million to three private parties.

According to the Health Ministry, the agreements were signed to develop and expand the health centres across 06 different islands. The contracts were signed with three companies, namely, Perfect Malafehi Maldives Pvt Ltd, Eacon Maldives Pvt Ltd, and Samal Construction Pvt Ltd.

Out of the contracts signed, Perfect Malafehi Maldives was assigned for the upgrading of health centres in the islands of Haa Alif Vashafaru and Haa Alif Thuraakunu. The contract for Vashafaru includes work to be done on wards and private rooms, laboratory, nurse station, procedure rooms, garage and store room, and the contract signed for Thuraakunu includes work to be done for the office, meeting hall, public health office, store room, as well as laundry room.

The projects were signed to be completed in 210 days within a budget of MVR4.8 million.

The second signing, which was done with Eacon Maldives Pvt Ltd, was for the development of a ward and a private room, a laboratory and a nurse station, a procedure room, a garage and a store room in the health centre of Shaviyani Lhaimagu. This contract was also signed for a total of MVR4.8 million, with the project completion set within 180 days. 

The final contract signed was with Samal Construction Pvt Ltd to develop and upgrade facilities in Noonu Magoodhoo, Faafu Bilehdhoo, and Faafu Dharanbudhoo.

The work handed over includes the development of the ward and laboratory, nurse station, procedure room, laundry and store room in Magoodhoo with a deadline of 180 days for a budget of MVR 4.8 million. In Dharabudhoo, the development of a ward and private room, laboratory, nurse station, procedure room, garage and store room for MVR4.8 million with a completion set for 210 days. Lastly, the development of a ward and laboratory, a nurse station, a labour room and a a store room in Bilehdhoo for MVR4.3 million to be completed within 180 days.
