A dialysis centre, a specialised facility designated to provide essential dialysis treatment for individiauls living with kidney diseases, has officially been inaugurated on 27 July 2025 by President Dr Mohamed Muizzu.
The inauguration ceremony, which was hosted at the Orange Hiya building, started with a video presentation showcasing the new facility, followed by a guided tour of the centre.
Managed by the Malé City Group of Hospitals, the centre features 30 dialysis beds and is expected to significantly ease the burden on patients who previously had to travel abroad for treatment. It is a major step forward in improving access to quality healthcare for those with chronic kidney conditions.
The President's Office noted that eliminating the need for Maldivians to seek essential medical care overseas remains a key priority of President Dr Muizzu’s administration. In line with this commitment, healthcare development projects worth over MVR400 million are currently underway across the country.
