The
publication of the world population when the numbers reached 8 billion was one
of the subjects that captured the attention of the entire globe at the end of
the previous year.
As
a result of this revelation, interest of all kinds increased and inquiries
about the global populace began to spread. One of them was, "Which nation
has the most people, and will that situation change soon?" Thus, the
United Nations (UN) announced on November 20, 2022, that China will be the most
populous nation in the world by that year. However, the UN also said that after
hundreds of years, India's population growth was on the verge of overtaking
China's.
While
it was predicted in 2022 that India's population growth would make it the most
populous nation by April 2023, it appears that circumstances have altered
significantly as the country's population has risen to over 1.4 billion as of
January 18, 2023.
With
the numbers surpassing Chinese population by 5 million, this growth in
population of India is expected to continue into 2050 as a majority of the
country’s population is under the age of 30.
However, with such a young and expanding population, however, India may
experience economic difficulties as the nation may find it challenging to
facilitate employment and develop jobs to support its ever-increasing
population.
India
has always had an increasingly large population, which has caused the governing
bodies of the country to take drastic measures in the past. While steps were
taken to introduce family planning in order to contain the drastic increase of
population in the country, the measures backfired as steps taken were
gregarious and often directed towards the less fortune. With the country having
an economically disadvantaged population, leading to only half of the
population being in the workforce, the need to introduce family planning in a
more friendly manner is becoming extremely evident.
Even
though the nation currently has enough food to feed itself, the future of the
nation remains uncertain due to the country's rapid population growth, and
while measures should have been introduced a long time ago the need for a
change is still extremely evident for India.
