As the world has finally started opening its eyes and admitting its blatant ignorance, Israel finally appears to have realised the power of social media, taking yet another step to conduct this genocide while remaining in the good favour of powerful nations.
Most of us, especially Muslims grew up hearing about how we need to save Palestine from the ethnic cleansing and genocide being carried out. While most of us were too young to understand the severity of the issue that has been ongoing, with the internet finally allowing Palestinians to share the horrifying reality that has become their everyday life, the world has finally been opening its eyes to the cruel ethnic cleansing tactics being imposed on Palestnians, especially in the Westbank by the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF).
While this brutal reality has been known to many of us throughout our whole lives, the ability to showcase what a day in the life of a country that is being oppressed has garnered the attention of many around the globe as of late, finally educating and opening the eyes of those who lived blissfully unaware of the unravelling genocide that has been ongoing for over 75 years now.
With this, especially following October 7th when the resistance force Hamas took hostages which was met with the heavy carpet bombing of Gaza by the IDF, Palestinians finally had the ability to show the world the reality of Israel and the IDF. Since October 7th, 2023, Gaza has been under constant attack, and while the world has been calling for a ceasefire, Israel has slowly but surely made their aim clear by continuing the horrendous attacks on innocent and defenseless civilians, all in the name of ‘getting rid of every Hamas member’.
Though Israel might have had the media blinded for such a long time with their several marketing tactics, such as painting the Palestinians as terrorists to the rest of the world, their own actions appear to have unveiled the reality of the situation as a majority of the world appears to have chosen their stance – freedom for all Palestinians.
During the past 20 days, several Palestinian journalists, people with big platforms and even citizens who are able to do anything for the rest of the world have been working effortlessly to update us on the day-to-day bombing and brutality of Israel. With this, the world was finally able to see images and videos that made it extremely difficult for many to take the stance with Israel as entire generations of families were wiped out from this world and Palestine had the pictures and videos to prove it. Following the brutality, which still continues, the Health Ministry in Gaza published a 200+ page document which stated the names and identity numbers for more than 7,0000 Palestinians that have been killed by Israel since October 7, 2023.
As the world has finally started opening its eyes and admitting its blatant ignorance, Israel finally appears to have realised the power of social media, taking yet another step to conduct this Genocide while remaining in the good favour of powerful nations. With this they have made it almost impossible to get any updates or news out of Gaza due to a complete communication blackout, leaving many worried for more than 2 million Palestinians who are being subjected to this brutality through ground operations in addition to the carpet bombing, which has become worse now than ever.
“Please guys if you can hear us send the message to the world we are isolated now in Gaza. Again guys if you can hear us ... we are isolated in the territory. We don't have any phone signals. We don’t have any internet connections...We just only hear bombardment. We don’t have any kind of access of communication to anyone. Everyone now is really terrified and afraid. Journalists here and even the civilians here who are inside the hospital they don’t have any access to the networks.”
As many are waking up to check on updates from the heroes who have been putting out daily updates of Palestine since the recent massacres started, the world seems to be in a standstill, not knowing what’s waiting on the other end when the Palestinians are finally able to report to us.
