SME Digital announced the launch of its Shari’ah-compliant Working Capital Financing facility during a product launch event held in Kulhudhuffushi City, aimed at supporting existing businesses in managing short-term financial needs and maintaining operational stability.

The newly introduced Working Capital Financing facility is designed to provide businesses with financial flexibility to manage cash flow, purchase inventory, and sustain day-to-day operations. Through accessible and flexible financing structures, the solution enables businesses to maintain continuity while supporting growth within existing operations.

Working Capital Financing offers access to financing of up to MVR 2,000,000, with collateral-free financing available up to MVR 1,000,000. The facility provides a repayment tenure of up to 5 years, including a grace period of up to 6 months, allowing businesses to better manage their financial commitments.

The financing is available to registered businesses that have been in operation for a minimum of 6 months.

We have observed that investment financing alone is not always sufficient for businesses to operate without disruption. Many businesses seek support to address short-term cash flow challenges affecting their day-to-day operations. We are introducing Working Capital Financing to provide timely financial support, enabling businesses to maintain continuity, strengthen operations, and sustain growth. Through this initiative, we aim to support the long-term sustainability of SMEs and reinforce their resilience in a dynamic business environment.

The launch was part of SME Digital’s visit to Kulhudhuffushi City from March 27 to 29, during which the team engaged with local businesses and strengthened connections within the community. Throughout the visit, SME Digital conducted awareness sessions highlighting available financial opportunities, with a focus on supporting the growth and development of small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

During the visit to Kulhudhuffushi City, a Sales Engagement event was held on 27 March, where participants were provided with information on available financing and supported with application submissions.

On 28 March, the team visited the city’s Saturday Market to engage with local businesses and share insights on available financial opportunities. In addition, visits were made to entrepreneurs across the island to gather valuable insights to support the continued development of SME Digital’s services.

Applications for the facility are now open via the SME Portal at www.smedigital.mv.
