The Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA) has announced that the deadline to register for its shredded banknote artwork and souvenir design competition is approaching, with applications closing on 14 May 2026 at 11:59 p.m.

The competition is divided into two categories: artwork creation using shredded or crushed banknotes as the primary material, and souvenir design, where participants are invited to create innovative souvenir concepts using damaged currency notes. The winning souvenir design may be selected for development as an official MMA gift item.

According to the Authority, the best entries from both categories will be showcased at the Maldives Financial Expo scheduled for July this year.

The competition is open to all Maldivians, including individuals, teams, and businesses. Participants may choose to enter either one or both categories.

Cash prizes will be awarded to winners in both categories, and the winner of the souvenir design category may also receive the opportunity to produce the souvenir through a separate agreement with the MMA.

Interested applicants are required to complete the application form and submit their proposal through the MMA’s official website before sending the required documents to [email protected].

Further details, including competition guidelines and submission requirements, are available in the official guidebook published on the MMA website.
