BML-issued Amex debit cards now accepted worldwide

Initially launched for domestic use, the American Express Debit Cards can now be linked to USD accounts for foreign purchases online and overseas, up to a daily default limit of USD3,000.

Bank of Maldives (BML) has on 22 August 2022 announced that its American Express Debit Cards will now be accepted worldwide. Initially launched for domestic use, the American Express Debit Cards can now be linked to USD accounts for foreign purchases online and overseas, up to a daily default limit of USD3,000.

According to BML, the existing American Express Debit Cardholders can request to set a USD account as the Card’s primary account via internet or mobile banking. Applications for new Cards can also be made online.

Bank of Maldives is the exclusive issuer and merchant acquiring partner of American Express Cards in the country. Bank of Maldives is also the largest Card issuing and acquiring bank in the country with over 300,000 customers and more than 7,900 merchants.
