Bank of Maldives (BML) has reaffirmed its commitment to building a digital-first banking experience for the Maldives, as part of which a monthly USD ATM withdrawal limit of USD 3,500 per customer will take effect from 1 October 2026. The existing daily limit of USD 1,600 per card remains unchanged.

According to the bank, this move reflects BML's broader direction: a steady transition away from reliance on physical cash towards faster, safer and more convenient digital payments and a more efficient financial system for all Maldivians.

The Bank notes that it has invested significantly in digital channels that make everyday banking possible without cash. BML notes that customers can pay, transfer and manage their money anytime, anywhere through BML Mobile Banking and Internet Banking, make card and contactless payments at merchants across the country and abroad, and send funds instantly to other accounts.
