Maldives finance forum 2026 to focus on green finance and long-term financial security
The Forum will bring together policymakers, regulators, financial institutions, investors, development partners and local and international experts to examine how the Maldives can mobilize long-term sustainable capital to strengthen its financial and economic resilience.
The 13th edition of the Maldives Finance Forum
will take place on 14 November 2026 at DusitD2 Feydhoo Maldives. Organized by
the Maldives Pension Office. This year’s Forum will be held under the theme
“Green Finance: Unlocking Sustainable Investment and Financial Security in the
Maldives.”
The Forum will bring together policymakers,
regulators, financial institutions, investors, development partners and local
and international experts to examine one central question: how the Maldives can
mobilize long-term sustainable capital to strengthen its financial and economic
resilience.
Investors, lenders and regulators increasingly
treat climate risk as financial risk, and this is beginning to shape the terms
on which countries and institutions access long-term capital. Discussions will
look at what it will take to build a credible green finance market in the
Maldives, which instruments and market conditions suit the country’s stage of
development, and how sustainable investment can be directed toward renewable
energy, climate-resilient infrastructure and the blue economy.
The conversation builds on recent groundwork
in the domestic market, including the Maldives Sustainability Reporting
Framework introduced by the Capital Market Development Authority in 2024, which
supports the disclosure that credible green finance depends on.
As the country’s largest institutional
investor and a key social security provider, the Pension Office has a direct
stake in this agenda. The retirement security of its members depends on a
resilient domestic economy and on investment opportunities that can deliver
sound returns over the long term.
Pension savings are invested over decades, so
the risks and opportunities that will shape the Maldivian economy over the next twenty- or thirty-years matter directly to our members. Green finance is, at its core,
about investing in a more resilient economy. This Forum brings together the
people who can help turn that idea into practical opportunities for the
Maldives.
