President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu and First Lady Madam Sajidha Mohamed departed on 29 June 2025 for a state visit to Singapore, scheduled to take place from June 29 to July 2, 2025.
According to a statement issued by the President’s Office, the visit aims to further strengthen bilateral relations between the Maldives and Singapore. During the visit, President Muizzu is expected to meet with Singapore’s leadership to discuss ways to enhance cooperation across a wide range of sectors, including trade, urban planning, capacity-building, technical expertise exchange, and multilateral collaboration.
The statement also noted that several key memoranda of understanding (MoUs) will be signed during the visit, further solidifying the partnership between the two nations.
In addition to high-level meetings, President Muizzu will attend a business forum and hold a special meeting with Maldivian nationals residing in Singapore.
On 30 June 2025, the President and First Lady were formally welcomed at Singapore’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs with a ceremonial reception. The welcome was hosted by His Excellency Tharman Shanmugaratnam, President of the Republic of Singapore, and the First Lady of Singapore, Mrs. Jane Ittogi Shanmugaratnam.
