Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) has announced that proper preparations are underway to meet the demands of the winter season. Although MACL welcomes thousands of visitors to the Maldives throughout the year, the winter season is marked as the peak season in the Maldives as visitors from all corners of the world travel to tropical heaven to escape the cold. With this, the CEO and Managing Director of MACL, Ibrahim Shareef Mohamed said that the company is now underway to introduce a new baggage handling system, just in time for the winter season.

The new baggage handling system is set to be a significant step in ensuring the efficient management of the increased passenger traffic during the Maldives' peak winter season. With the new system in place, MACL will be able to speed up the airport’s operations and improve the quality of service provided as the system will streamline the handling of baggage, reducing delays and improving the overall airport experience for visitors.

By minimizing congestion and potential mishaps caused by the volume of bags, MACL is ensuring that its world-class airport facilities can continue to offer a seamless, enjoyable experience to travellers. The upgraded technology will also support staff in managing the higher influx, leading to a smoother, more efficient operation that enhances the reputation of Velana International Airport as a premier gateway to the Maldives.
